This book "Solomon,s temple spiritualized" by John Bunyan is only one of many of his unknown works which total around 100.---Anyway its a 130 page paperback book written in the Bunyan style so if you don,t like reading the style of the KJV Bible don,t get this as it is in the same manner of language and speech.I believe we believers (myself included)are so routinely taught and very heavily so that everything in the Bible is literal unless it it is impossible to do so.Now that is a good thing and keeps us doctrinally correct but sometimes there are multiple meanings to such an collection of God,s Words in His book the Holy Bible,a book that has God as its author and therefore i am sure multiple levels of depth to each verse.
In this book Bunyan takes apart Solomon,s temple piece by piece,candlesticks,doors,molten sea,nails,lavers and even the snuffers,what,s there (and what,s not there--no windows or chairs) and literally applies the truth of the New Testament and that of it,s author to this Temple.He applies his considerable wisdom and thought to each item,where they were made and the possible connections to the unseen spiritual world we all know is there.In short he literally spiritualizes each and every thing there.
One slight error (the only one)as I see it ---he seems to mix up Solomon,s temple and its items with the Temple that is still in the future---the one the Lord Himself sits on top of Mt.Zion in the 1,000 year millennium. Zechariah,Isaiah,Ezekiel and others all give details as to this temple,s dimensions and measurements to such an extent you can literally make a model of this ---as some have done ---this is not Solomon,s temple--there are major differences that I do not have the space to relate here.
Solomon,s Temple has no such exact plan given to us,only that God gave David the plans and the details of which were consequently lost through history except for the amount of Gold,silver,etc that was used.Even the Tabernacle has more details on how it was built than Solomon,s Temple.
Many Bible nuggets are exposed in this book---one nugget I got in particular was on page 124 and discusses the intercessory aspects of Christ as it relates to the Holy of Holies---heavy stuff indeed--.This book quotes the King James version and has numerous references to each verse,s location at the bottom of each page--no index or support of any kind is offered in the back of the book though there several introductions in the front of the book.--Looking for bible wisdom that's over 3 centuries old that,s reliable--this is the book for you.

First of all it is John Bunyan --- how could it not be a book of spiritual depth and truth? As he declares in his introduction, he sticks to scripture and personal revelation of its interpretation and shares the truth he has gleaned from
his vast biblical knowledge with his readers.
Highly recommended for anyone who desires to connect the Old Testament with the New and find the fulfillment of Christ as seen in the law and in the construction of the temple. It is not a difficult book to read, and there are many references given to scripture passages used in his interpretations so that the reader can cross reference and compare. It would make a great individual study or group study.
I would also recommend it for pastors --- no matter what the degree of their education. It is a tremendous book for comparing the development of a church with the building of a temple. Example Bunyan speaks of those who built the temple and those within the church today. "All sons are servants, but not all servants are sons." It is not enough to enter the "outer court" --- that doesn't cost much. The "inner court" is the place of sacrifice. I would think a presentation of this would be a great way to challenge any congregation to examine their place in worship.
